Research policy

JKKMMRF's Annai JKK Sampoorani Ammal College of Pharmacy are an integral part and have a symbiotic relationship. The college has a proactive structure in place to encourage research by instilling a research culture and a scientific temperament among our faculty and students. Research monitoring Committee make the policies regarding research and project oriented matter for students as well as faculty members. The purpose of this policy is to create a healthy, enthusiastic, collaborative and focused environment of research among faculty and researchers at the institute. Whilst, it is apparent that our researchers and institution gaining national and global recognition for their research contributions via publications, patents and others, we continue to strive for excellence and envision to become a global leader in pharmaceutical sciences and practice research.

Objectives:

To endorse quality research environment within the institution.
To provide the essential support and infrastructure facilities as per the research framework and guidelines.
Ensure publications in quality journals, indexed in Scopus / Web of Science/ PubMed and/or with impact factor.
To promote research that will be of use to the society with a scope for commercialization and patenting.
To perform interdisciplinary as well as collaborative research.
To organize and conduct seminars/workshops/conferences in regular intervals with resource persons of national and international repute.

VISION

Rapid growth in scientific knowledge is an indication of quest for discovery and has an impact on economic and social development. Science, technology and innovation is often initiated at the undergraduate levels and it should be nurtured. Research and developmental activities creates and disseminates new knowledge in range of fields, promotes innovation and these will motivate better learning and teaching among faculties and students. Research is the foundation of knowledge that brings new energy, builds state of the art facilities, promotes research publications, develops collaborations and becomes part of active community that shares the mission objectives. The policy shall serve as an overall framework within which research activities may be carried out.

AREA OF RESEARCH

Design and synthesis of small drug-like molecules using in computational tools for the treatment of cancer, depression and bacterial infections.

Conventional and solid/liquid phase combinatorial synthesis, including microwave-assisted synthesis of novel chemical entities.

Design and development of nano-particle drug conjugates for targeted drug delivery.

Identification and isolation of structurally novel and biologically active natural compounds for human diseases from medicinal plants.

Development and Validation of Analytical methods for the analysis/Quality control of Pharmaceuticals/ Chiral drugs/ Herbal Products/ Food Constituent & Contaminants using various sophisticated analytical instruments.
Stress Degradation Studies and Impurity profiling of API’s and Pharmaceutical Formulations.
Performance of Pharmacokinetic studies, BA/BE studies for pharmaceutical formulations.

Academic research

For more than 25 years, the JKKMMRF's Annai JKK Sampoorani Ammal College of Pharmacy, Komarapalayam has been home to innovative researchers who work determinedly to discover, develop and implement new ways to meet the diverse health needs.

A disease-free world" It is one of the common quests for all living kind across the globe. Whilst we acknowledge the significant advancements and discoveries in health sciences, the quest to find a cure for many diseases remain a global challenge, which warrant continuous and extensive research contributions from all disciplines, worldwide.

The pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice research at the JKKMMRF's Annai JKK Sampoorani Ammal College of Pharmacy, Komarapalayam, have similar aspirations to contribute its best to achieve the 'global quest'. We are privileged to have very passionate principal, investigators and research scholars. Furthermore, our research facilities are appropriately equipped with sophisticated instruments to conduct cutting-edge drug discovery and development research.
